The red kangaroo
The red kangaroo is one of the animals you will find in the great sandy desert. A red kangaroo gives birth after a month of pregnancy. The baby is only bean sized and is born in the pouch and attaches itself to a nipple. Red Kangaroos are able to survive temperatures in excess of 40 degrees celcius by using shade and avoiding activity during the day. Red Kangaroos also concentrate their urine to conserve water and thus can tolerate severe dehydration. They regulate their body temperature largely by panting and licking their forearms. The red kangaroo gets there food at night. they collect a wide variety of grasses and low herbaceous plants. This can go from late night to early morning. When there is water available they drink during the day and night. In The day they can use trees as shade and shelter to keep the sun away from them.
